What was the outcome of your meeting?

The pioneer club is a great, potential facility for teenagers and one of the only places that there is for this age range in the City! It needs to be open far more to allow groups to meet, bands to rehearse and as a safe social outlet for young adults.

Lets start seeing some action with the pioneer club and start seeing weekly events there

What Summer Sounds should be like

This weekend (early May BH) i took my 16 year old son and a group of his friends to the Stortford Music Festival at Bishop's Stortford. In a school sports field they had three music tages/tents, an arts marquee, food stalls, a beer tent and many concessions stands.

Over each day there were at least 30 performers ranging from folk to rock and there seemed to be something to cater for almost every taste.

We had a fantastic time and were really impressed that such a small town could run such a successful and entertaining 2 day event - it just begs the question why isn't there something similar in St. Albans?

Maybe this is well beyond SAYC and Summer Sounds, but i think it is high time that St.Albans had an event like this to showcase local bands and help nurture local talent.

Ok, this might sound like a bit of a moan but i am prepared to 'put my money where my mouth is' .... if anyone out there has experience in running this sort of event then lets get together and make something happen.

Reply if you think there should be a Verulam Music Festival in 2010

Since the last planning application was withdrawn by Henry Davidson Developments Limited the company has been considering its positions and has put together a new professional team of architects and planning advisers which we understand is in the process of developing some alternative proposals.

As a means of providing regular forum through which the council can disseminate information and obtain ideas and views from interested parties on development proposals, the council has decided to set up a Cinema Reference group. Three members of SAYC have been invited to sit on this group.

We will post more after the first meeting of this group.
